The Andrić Institute and the Association “Milutin Milanković” organized a program to commemorate the life and work of Milutin Milanković, famous Serbian scientist. With Nikola Tesla and Mihajlo Pupin, Milutin Milanković is a important name of Serbian science, mathematician, astronomer and geophysicist, founder of the Department of celestial mechanics at the Belgrade University and Vice President of the Serbian Academy of Sciences.

In a crowded cinema hall “Dolly Bell” was shown film “From reinforced concrete to canon of insolation” directed by prof. Dragana Elčić. The film is an addition to the publication that accompanies the character and work of Milutin Milanković and also one of the elements of the series, which recording is at the final stage and that will have seven episodes.

“According to data published by NASA, Milankovic is one of the most frequently cited scientists in the world. His scientific work was based on research related to climate change and is the creator of the most precise calendar which is made in the history of mankind,” said Elčić.

After the film projection, an exhibition “Milutin Milanković – life and work” was opened in the Gallery “Lubarda” at the Andrić Institute.

The exhibition was opened by Slavko Maksimović, president of the Association “Milutin Milanković”. In doing so, he pointed out, since Andrićgrad is a place where is promoted science, culture and art, this is an excellent opportunity to present the material on the life and work of Milutin Milanković.

“The exhibition consists of more than 300 individual documents that represent his background, schooling in Vienna, working at the University of Belgrade and all that makes his life and scientific work,” said Maksimović.

After the opening of the exhibition, Maksimović, on behalf of the Association “Milutin Milanković” donated to the Library “Ivo Andrić” at the Andrić Institute books that accompany the life and work of the scientist. The Institute responded also with a gift in the form of its own publications.
