The President of Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, says to SRNA that the cooperation of Andrićgrad with Venetian theater “La Fenice-Verdiana” to set the opera “The Bridge on the Drina” on the program of this renowned cultural institution is of great importance, given that Republic of Srpska has demonstrated the ability to take part in these cultural trends of high level of the contemporary Europe.
“The Venice Theatre ‘La Fenice-Verdiana’ and Andrićgrad with today’s renewal of the contract have established the cooperation in institutional terms, thus confirming the commitment to work together on a large project such as the opera ‘The Bridge on the Drina,” says Dodik in a telephone statement to SRNA from Milan .
The president says that taking into account the logistical and organizational preparations, it will take time, work and effort that such a musical spectacle as the opera “The Bridge on the Drina” would be realized.
“We have convinced our partners in the ability of Republic of Srpska to provide logistics and that opera, which will be directed by Emir Kusturica, simultaneously will be played in the theatres in Venice and in Andrićgrad. It is certainly a project that will give a completely new message, a new dimension and a new understanding of the importance of Andrićgrad,” says the president Dodik.
He said that for Republic of Srpska and its representation in Europe and the world is of the great importance the overall project Andrićgrad and what it already can provide on the international plan.
“Kusturica and I are now in Milan, after signing a contract with representatives of the Venetian Theater, there was a press conference, at which was a great number of Italian and French media, and we also had a several important interviews. In Milan, everyone talks about Republic of Srpska and Andrićgrad and these are the words that have assimilated here, which speaks enough of how much Andrićgrad have contributed to the reputation of Republic of Srpska,” says Dodik.
He points out that Andrićgrad has an international dimension and a great appreciation that could be seen everywhere in Milan.
“This is proof that the Andrićgrad project transcends any malicious and other local claims that could have been heard in the previous period. If the people of this cultural and institutional significance level, that we have met today in Milan, can understand the importance of Andrićgrad the one who challenges the importance of such a project is certainly ridiculous,” says Dodik.
He also points out that the joint work of Venetian Theatre and Andrićgrad on a large project such as the opera “The Bridge on the Drina” is another proof that Andrićgrad is the capital of Republic of Srpska’s culture.
“For the umpteenth time, it has been shown that Andrićgrad has confirmed its justification and that everything that happens within the city walls of stone gives a new dimension to the cultural scene of Republic of Srpska and thus it represents the Republic in the best way,” states Dodik.
