In Andrićgrad is opened Balkan Rowing Championships on the Drina river, downstream from Višegrad. This championship has gathered around 350 participants, including competitors from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Romania, Albania, Greece, Turkey and Cyprus.

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, says that he is proud because Republic of Srpska managed to organize a competition like this.

“A little over three years ago, when we have started to build Andrićgrad, there was nothing. Now we have built Andrićgrad, with which are born ideas like this one, just a few months ago,” – Dodik explains to reporters.

President ponits out that for the preparation of the championship had to do a lot work, like decorating paths and construction of facilities necessary for the competition.

“I am very proud of the fact that we have organized the competition at this place. This says a lot aobout the abilities of Republic of Srpska” – says Dodik.

Secretary-General of the Rowing Federation of republic of Srpska and President of the Rowing Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Nebojša Marković, says that because of happening of Balkan Rowing Championship, Višegrad is set on the map of the World Rowing Federation.

“We have  tried to make the organization of the competition well done, in what will the public tomorrow make sure. We expect good results of athletes and a good perspective of our International center for the arrival of teams from the region and world in future,” says Marković.

He expresses hope that this center will become even more important.

“We expect that here we will organize important events, such as European championships and cups, so if we are lucky – and more important competition than that,” said Markovic.
